Foreign trade with forest and forest industry products

Here you will find statistics on the import and export of roundwood and some forest industry products.

The data on trade in forest and forest industry products are taken from Statistics Sweden's statistical database.

Foreign trade with roundwood

Since the mid-1970s, Sweden has been a net importer of round wood. In 2024, imports of roundwood were approximately 9.2 million cubic metres, which was an increase of 26 per cent compared to 2023.

At the same time, exports of roundwood decreased by 27 per cent to good 1 million cubic metres.

Most of the exports consist of round wood of coniferous trees. Imports also consist mainly of softwood, and it was precisely imports of softwood that increased sharply in 2024.

We import mainly from Norway, Latvia, Finland and Estonia. These countries accounted for 95 percent of imports in 2022.
