The most recent statistics from the Swedish Forest Agency show that the area notified or applied for felling in August was unchanged, compared to August 2024. The area regarding applications for permits for felling in montane forests decreased 46 percent, compared to the same month last year.
Forest fertilization increased significantly in 2024, covering about 40,000 hectares, compared with 15,000 hectares the year before. This is a statistically significant increase from the record-low level in 2022 and signals a return to levels last seen before the start of the war in Ukraine.

The cost of harvesting (felling and extraction to roadside) increased by 4 percent in 2024, according to new statistics from the Swedish Forest Agency and Skogforsk. The rate of increase has declined compared to the two previous years that saw increases of 9 percent in 2023 and 12 percent in 2022. However, in fixed prices the change is smaller.

The proportion of declared productive forest land area in the size class greater than 1,000 hectares has increased from 50 to 55 percent between 1999 and 2024. The increase has been particularly notable among Individual owners, where the area in holdings over 1,000 hectares has more than doubled, according to statistics from the Swedish Forest Agency.
A total of 405 million seedlings were delivered in 2024, which is a decrease of 26 million (6 percent) compared to 2023. The proportion of delivered seedlings of Scots pine was 54 percent while the proportion of Norway spruce was 41 percent. The proportion of delivered seedlings of other tree species was 5 percent.
