International forest statistics
Several international organisations collect and compile statistics on forests in the world's different countries.
Here you will find links to statistics about the forest at these organizations:
- The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE)
- Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union
- The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO)
- FOREST EUROPE, also Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe
Joint Forest Sector Questionnaire (JFSQ)
JFSQ is a collaboration between the organizations UNECE, Eurostat, FAO and The International Tropical Timber Organization (ITTO). They collect data from their respective Member States every year. The purpose of the cooperation is that the countries do not have to submit the same information to several different organisations. What is collected is data on the production and trade of forest and forest industry products.
Global Forest Resources Assessments (FRA)
The FRA is produced every five years with the aim of trying to describe the world's forests and how they are changing. The assessment is based on country reports prepared by national contact persons and on remote sensing conducted by FAO together with national focal points and regional partners.
INForest
INForest is a platform where UNECE has collected all kinds of data on countries in the UNECE region.
UNECE has 56 member states in Europe, North America and Asia. However, all interested UN Member States can participate in the work of the UNECE. Over 70 international professional organisations and other NGOs are also involved in UNECE activities.
Eurostat Forestry Database
In addition to information on the production and trade of forest and forest industry products, the database also contains forest accounts.

State of Europe´s Forests
State of Europe's Forests is a compilation made by Forest Europe (the Ministerial Conference on the Protection of Forests in Europe). Forest Europe is a high-level, pan-European voluntary forest policy process. The report provides information on the status and trends of forests and forestry in the pan-European region, based on the criteria for sustainable forest management. Forest Europe does not collect statistics of its own but uses what the other organisations collect.
